Hélène Monfort studied Art History at the University of Bordeaux and at the École des Arts Appliqués in Paris.
Driven by an ongoing exploration of aesthetics, she has gradually placed drawing and painting at the core of her practice. Watercolour is her medium of choice, valued for both its transparency and precision. She creates both instinctive landscapes and highly detailed, realistic animal studies.
Reproductions of her watercolours are distributed in several boutiques in Montreal and published in France by Salam Éditions. Her growing interest in texture has also led her to explore acrylic painting on canvas, which she enhances with embroidery using wool and cotton threads.
Born in La Rochelle, France, Hélène now lives and works in Montreal.
